A tournament that started with one family

Heroes in the Hills is a golf tournament held every spring on a course outside Austin. The Clawson family started it in 2015 and has run it every year since, and the proceeds come to the Lone Star Bleeding Disorders Foundation.

The Clawsons have chaired the Unite Walk and the Advocacy Coalition, and they are one of the families recognized with our Legacy of Giving Award. The tournament is theirs — their idea, their event, run by them every spring since 2015.

It is a partnership from there. They run the day; we take the registrations, help line up sponsors and help get the word out. So if you want to play, or put your name on a hole, our office is the right place to ask.

What it raises pays for things that are ordinary and specific: places at camp, educational programs for families across South Texas, and the help we give people when insurance goes wrong.

Playing

Registration runs through us, so you do not need a Facebook account to enter a team. It opens once the Clawsons have the date and the course settled — watch this page, or ask us to tell you when it does.

Where the money goes

Every dollar raised comes to the Lone Star Bleeding Disorders Foundation and stays in Texas, funding the programs families here use through the year.

If a spring morning on a golf course is not your thing, giving directly does exactly the same work.

Wear it without playing

Our store carries the tournament’s own shirt and cap. Both are $25, both carry the Texas-shaped logo, and both put money to work in the same place.
