Unite Walk

A morning together — walking, eating, and meeting families who understand. It is our largest fundraiser of the year, and you do not need to raise a dollar to come.

The next walk

Houston

Everything happens in one morning at the race park. Families, friends, treatment center teams and local businesses all walk together.

Never been before? Come as a family.

When you register you are asked how you want to take part. Most families new to the walk choose Friends & Family Team — you create a team in your own name, and anyone who wants to walk or give in your honor joins it. You can also register as an individual if you would rather just turn up and walk.

Starting a team is the same form.

There is no separate process and no minimum to start one. Teams raise around four fifths of everything the walk brings in, so a team of five people asking five people each goes further than any of us can alone.

Walked with us before?

Registration moved to a new system for 2026, so your old login will not work — you will need to create an account the first time you register this year.

Live total, straight from registration. If it does not load, the running total is on the walk site.

Why we walk

Eighteen years of it

The Lone Star Bleeding Disorders Foundation was one of five inaugural sites of the national Hemophilia Walk program in 2008. It started in Houston, and eighteen years later it is still the largest fundraiser we run.

Money raised at the walk pays for education that helps families manage a bleeding disorder, advocacy work to protect access to care, and national research. It is a family day first — exhibits, games, photo booths, music — and a fundraiser second.

Because of our sponsors and walkers since 2008, the Foundation has hosted more than 5,000 walkers, many of whom had never heard of a bleeding disorder before they came; started programs specific to our women and girls, teen, and Hispanic communities; and given $10,000 to the Judith Graham Pool Fellowship, which funds researchers working towards better treatments and a cure.

What to expect

The questions people actually ask before their first walk.

What does it cost?

Nothing to register, and nobody is turned away. Once you have raised or given $25 you get that year’s Walk T-shirt — most people clear it with two or three donations.

How far is it, and where does it go?

One loop inside the race park. You start by the Pavilion Center, follow the track past the grandstand, go through the tunnel underneath it, round the infield lake and back. The map is below.

What if it rains?

The walk goes ahead. There is an indoor area at the Pavilion Center to gather in if it rains while we are there. If the weather ever made it unsafe to hold the walk at all, we would let everyone who has registered know.

Can I bring my children?

Please do — it is built as a family day, with a kids’ corner, games and a photo booth. Strollers are fine. Bicycles and skates are not.

I have cash and checks from people at work.

Bring them on the day, or send them in beforehand. Make checks payable to Lone Star Bleeding Disorders Foundation, and email tstillman@lonestarbleedingdisorders.org if you would rather hand them over early.

Does my employer match donations?

Many do, and it is the quickest way to double a total. Ask your HR or benefits team whether they run a matching gift program.
